Vitaly Fokeev had more than one reason to celebrate becoming the first European Games champion in double trap Shooting - with the victory, he also secured a quota place for his country to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The shooter revealed that the gold medal breaks a winless run going back to 2006 in major tournaments - he`ll look to build on this success in Brazil.
Despite some early competition nerves, fellow Russian Yana Kudryavtseva took gold in the Rhythmic Gymnastics individual all-around final at the National Gymnastics Arena. The 17-year-old earned the highest scores of the field in three of the four apparatus, demonstrating dramatic musicality and superb apparatus handling ability - all the while making it seem easy.
Next up, Austria`s Katharina Schutzenhofer combined with teammate Lena Maria Plesiutschnig to score a most remarkable point against their Russian opposition in the Beach Volleyball quarter-final. They went on to win the match 2-1, so expect to see more dramatic play in the semi-final against Lithuania.
Taekwondo world champion Gemma Walkden of Team GB rescued her title challenge in the last second of her first bout with a furious series of blows. However, she was unable to sustain the momentum going into the next round, bowing out after after losing to Ukraine`s Maryna Konieva in the quarter-finals.
Finally, Great Britain`s Paul Drinkhall and Ukrainian Kou Lei wrapped up their Table Tennis match in impressive style, with Kou claiming the bronze medal despite a lunging dive from his opponent at the death.
